Council Bluffs is located in Iowa just east of Omaha and the Nebraska state line. With over 62,000 residents, Council Bluffs is the most populous suburb in the Omaha-Council Bluffs metropolitan area. The close proximity to Omaha allows homebuyers all the benefits of employers, shopping and entertainment.

Council Bluffs offers residents a smaller-town atmosphere, good public and private schools, the benefit of a community college and great places to work. Situated on the winding banks of the Missouri River, the city is known as the jumping-off point of the Mormon Trail.

Council Bluffs holds an important place in American history for another reason—it was the official starting point of transcontinental railroad, completed in 1869. One of the city's landmarks is the official "Mile 0" point located at 21st Street and 9th Avenue and now marked by a gold spike.

Major employers in Council Bluffs include American Games, Barton Solvents, Con-Agra, Google, Grundorf, Katelman Steel Fabrication, Inc., Omaha Standard Palfinger, Red Giant Oil, and Tyson Foods.

Google has invested $2.5 billion in Council Bluffs and recently expanded its data center operation in Southlands. Google has two data centers in Council Bluffs, one near Lake Manawa that opened in 2009 and the Southlands facility that opened in 2013.
